Temporary Toilets Approved At Site Where 56-Story Edition Residences Planned

A permit to install temporary toilets has been issued for the site where the 56-story Edition Residences is planned in Edgewater.

Several other permits remain pending.

A total demolition permit was applied for in May 2023, and is still undergoing corrections. The estimated cost of demolition is listed at $2,850,000, with Coastal Construction listed as the contractor.

A seawall permit with an estimated value of $1.5 million worth of work, was applied for in May and is in review. Coastal is also listed as the contractor.

A master permit for construction of the new tower was applied for in May, with an estimated hard construction cost at $215,750,000. That permit does not yet appear to be in review.

A total of 187 residential units are planned in the 56-story Edition, along with a 13-level parking garage and 3,500 square feet of office, the permit filing states. Coastal Construction is again listed as the contractor.

They keep building all these towers in Edgewater with parking garages spanning the entire block yet no retail space. Edgewater has so much potential but it’s not valuable if I have to drive literally every where. Should able to leave a high rise and grab a cup of coffee somewhere nearby…
It needs like a Mary Brickell Village space or something.

No who cares about podiums! keep building more towers with no liner units nor mixed use. I want to live dystopia!

commissioners and city officials whoring out to developers with zero public insight on the future. Edgewater is exactly that, a non walkable area with dead streets bc they are all garages. Ridiculous how they ruined an entire area of the city

The majority of edgewater is unbuilt. Theres plenty of possibility for the future. Rumors of a mega-development around school board, as well as the enormous Miami Herald site – there is boundless potential

The school board site area would be great but that is down on 15th Street. The Miami Herald site hasn’t even been sold and is further south. The middle of Edgewater is 25th-30th Street. Midtown is somewhat nearby but Edgewater deserves its own “area”.

Margaret Pace Park is definitely Edgewater, and that connects directly to whatever will become of the Herald site through the Baywalk.

But yeah I agree, a neighborhood center of some sort is needed in Edgewater.

do you know edgewater?. I work in an office building in edgewater and I see foot traffic all day long.every block on biscayne blvd is full of different types of businesses from restaurants to furniture stores, Medical centers hardware stores and any type of business you can think of. all of these businesses are within walking distance of all the Buildings in the neighborhood

Thank you. I see the same thing every day. People constantly criticizing Edgewater are Brickell residents who never leave Brickell.

I worked in Law Enforcement in the late 80s and all the 90s. That entire area was horrible. It was full of drug dealers and prostitution. Miami at the time was one of the poorest cities in the nation.

I absolutely love going there now. It’s fricken beautiful. The only real issue I see is the roads are really bad for front ends.

The retail space in Opera tower and Paramount Bay are lying vacant and go begging for 15 years now. Aria built one and still sitting vacant, 1800 club had one and finally sold it and made it a gym. I don’t think anyone is patronizing. At least Opera tower space could become a CVS but alas, No.

Good news about the seawall. The bay has been lapping near the top of the existing one at hide tides this month.
Eager to see another section of Baywalk completed that will join a few existing blocks to the north.

It should be over 7 feet above low water (>2 meters), or about 5 feet above high tide (1.5 meters), as high as eastern SFL’s general elevation of 7 ft, and as high as the Atlantic coasts meager hurricane storm surges.

I assume you mean there *will be* dining options in the future. I live right here and can assure you that currently, we have next to none.

Can’t tell if this is sarcasm. You think *2 restaurants* means “tons of incredible dining options”?

How appropriate, because the second part of this development is a pile of crap.

The skyline keeps on growing but we need an observation deck. I hope for a developer to revive the SkyRise with a better design and possibly taller.
