Tenants & Opening Date Revealed For Dining & Entertainment Complex At Old United States Post Office and Courthouse In Downtown Miami

Miami commissioners voted last week to allow for an exception for alcohol to be served at the Old United States Post Office and Courthouse, and the developers revealed their lineup of tenants.

Permitting is underway for an entertainment and dining venue in the historic structure, with construction permits filed in October 2018 and still being reviewed.

According to a letter from developer Stambul, the following tenants will be in the building:

  • Cabron – main restaurant and lounge. Will occupy all of the basement and part of the first floor
  • Frutonomy – juice bar on the first floor
  • Lobby Bar – on the first floor
  • Nomada – a deli market with alcohol sales, on the second floor
  • Biscayne Bay Brewery – taproom serving local craft beer and complementary food offerings. Will occupy the third floor
  • La Real – a cocktail lounge that will occupy nearly half of the fourth floor

Completion and opening is scheduled for the third quarter of 2020, owners representatives were quoted as saying in The Real Deal.

Are you talking about the MDC renovation building? That used to be a courthouse AND post office if I’m not mistaken, so I think the original statement was technically correct.

Rather see it become a museum or college but at least it is being preserved.

I wouldn’t mind a museum, but considering how desecrating and neglectful MDC has been with the second-generation post office and courthouse, no school.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There’s going to be a new college campus for MDC a few blocks away. I think downtown is good for now.

Museum and colleges are nice, but downtown needs more exciting F&B options to keep people around late and attract on evenings and weekends. I think this use will go further towards what downtown needs to get the neighborhood to the next level.
