Terra Gets Approval For Luxe North Beach Condo Tower

Terra Group obtained approval last week from Miami Beach’s Design Review Board for the Biltmore Terrace project at the northern end of the city.

An 18-story condo building with 35 units will be built on what is currently a vacant lot, while the adjacent Dezerland Hotel which dates back to 1951 will be renovated.  The number of hotel rooms will also be reduced to 120. Architect Albert Anis designed the original hotel, while Morris Lapidus designed interiors.

As part of the project, a public beachwalk will be added. An ‘urban paseo’ with a pedestrian streetscape will be built between North Shore Park and the hotel.

Terra bought the Dezerland, currently a Howard Johnson, for $65 million last year.

Allan Shulman is the architect for both the hotel renovation and the new tower. Dutch design firm West 8 is overseeing landscape architecture.
