The Dorsey Is Rising In Wynwood With 306 Apartments, Office & Retail (Photos)

In Wynwood, a mixed-use project called The Dorsey is rising.

The Dorsey will be a 12-story building.

It will include:

  • 306 apartments
  • 35,000 square feet of retail
  • 70,000 square feet of office
  • 476 parking spaces

The project is being developed by the Related Group, Alex Karakhanian’s LNDMRK, and Scott Sherman’s Tricera Capital.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

For those wondering Dana A Dorsey was the first black millionaire in Florida…

Very cool for pointing that out. Fortunately his house in Overtown was sparred the wrecking ball when I-95 was built. Nice to see Miami observing and preserving its history!

I don’t know who they’re trying to impress naming it after a black pioneer blocks away from Overtown, but wouldn’t it make more sense to build in use that namesake in Overtown?

It’s being named after Dana Dorsey because he used to own the deed to that very property about 100 years ago just like he used to own the deed to Fisher Island before he sold it to Carl Fisher.

The developer is lucky they have deep pockets and got that land years ago on the cheap.

I hope the developers keep the artsy space of the neighborhood and don’t transform it to another boring area.

But all these new buildings in Wynwood seem… homogenized. No inspiration.

Well it’s better than empty lots and run down buildings. Brooklyn and the Bronx is mostly homogenized, unimaginative red brick and fire escapes, with highly similar architecture, no ones complaining about that. Give 30 years, it might grow on you…

For Arquitectonica, where every other building is a box with sawtooth balconies atop a parking garage and crappy mural, this is a great change of pace. I wish they will build towers like this, too.

Does anybody know what is going on with the old O’s Food Market building & lot at NW 3rd Ave and 20th St?? Land changed hands to a Turkish billionaire for like $10 million 2 years ago and I haven’t heard anything about what is going there. I just see the closed store and nothing going on. Curious about everything Wynwood. Thanks all
