The Grass Is Growing At Resorts World Miami (Photos)

Genting provided an updated presentation to investors last week, but didn’t have any news on the status of the Resorts World Miami property. Instead the company is focusing on other projects around the world.

And because YOU don’t like or care for casinos you use the “WE” word to be the “self anointed” one who speaks for every body.

To those who might be interested, please read the attached articles in The Atlantic and The New Yorker to get a clearer picture of just how “good” casinos are good for cities and I promise you’ll think twice before extolling their virtues so quickly and easily:.

The outcome in Miami might be different but is the community really willing to take that gamble. Pun very much intended.

Just some food for thought.

Sad to see the Herald building gone, so far for nothing.

I wonder how many years we will have to wait until Genting decides to focus on Miami again…

When casino’s are approved for gambling in Miami by the Florida legislature that is when.

It has been approved. The conditions are ridiculous however

I see why there have not been too many updates recently…

I think the concern is that by allowing one of these resort casino’s it will open the flood gates to other casino corps wanting to also do business here and totally changing the landscape of this still young city.

im glad someone finally pointed out this project was not some random boxy casino…it was a full fledged resort…..hotel rooms clubs dining and more importantly a huge emphasis on family and things kids would love to do as well,,,,the casino was slated to be 10% of the projects square footage,,,,,just another great option for people to choose whether they live here or were visiting

nothing will EVER happen there as grand as original plan…that is until hillbillies in Tallahassee are out from under disneys thumb…what a waste….. could have built a project that would have made other cities jealous….the worst part is the voters in the respective counties should have the collective voice to determine projects fate…

Sorry but I doubt this would have made other cities jealous. Casinos’ and all their promises around the US have largely not been fulfilled. In a way, Miami may have dodged a bullet

You are right! This should be put on the ballot in 2016. Let the majority rule and not politicians in Tallahassee.

Uhm. The majority elected the politicians. ….just a thought.

well there is some truth to the fact that the majority elect the politicians but lets not forget that the elected from SOUTH florida are the ones floating the changes in legislature that the north florida Disney cronies block at every turn…so we are left with illegal storefronts as gambling houses and a mixed up bundle of laws that allow runaway unregulated gambling….like it or not the fact is this should be decided by the people who in each county would house a casino project…..since no meaningful gambling legislation will ever seemingly occur….

There is a difference between a casino and casino resort google it sometime. For some reason people feel casinos are evil. Some feel they are responsible for causing some folks to go broke. Well ive been to casinos and they are harmless, cant do anymore harm to anyone then any other form of entertainment. By this being a resort you dont have to gamble you can come and enjoy everything else it has to offer. Gambling is just one option an its fun ive won and ive lost but i had a good time. Im all for this project, love the design and hope it gets built.

casinos have not fulfilled their promises????? just take a look in your own neighborhood….the Seminoles have hard rock and the placed is packed with people…people seeking different entertainment venues…clubs restaurants concerts and yes …even gambling and if its caused the downfall of society in that area I missed the article……and what about the people the place employs???? not everything is doom and gloom and i don’t want a resort casino compared to atlantic city……Miami is NOTHING like atlantic city

Wow, the man or woman speaks the truth and people want to give him/her thumbs down for it.

Hold up a moment. This person expressed his or her opinion (to which he/she is entitled) and nothing more; however, as to whether it’s the “truth” is another matter.

Well, can you point out where anything in his or her comment is not factual and what’s just their expressed “opinion?”

Tallahassee fights Miami tooth and nail when it comes to getting a resort casino and then throw tax payers money at this ugly SkyRise crap to mess up our skyline….pitiful.
