The Standard Residences Breaks Ground In Midtown Miami With 228 Units

A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for The Standard Residences in Midtown Miami.

It is the first stand-alone residential project for The Standard, a hotel brand.

The Standard Residences in Midtown Miami is planned to include:

  • 228 residential condo units
  • 11,000 square feet of retail
  • 34,000 square feet of amenity space, rooftop lounge

The project experienced rapid pre-construction sales, according to developer Carlos Rosso. More than 80% of units have been sold, a press release said.

Buyers will be permitted to rent their units for a minimum of a month at a time.

Arquitectonica is the architect, with interiors by Urban Robot.

Standard International, Rosso Development and Midtown Development are the developers.

Completion is scheduled for the end of 2024.

As an urban design student, I can tell you that Midtown is the ideal and best neighborhood of Miami. Its dense, yet feels human scale. The parking podiums are all facing the train tracks, while the other 3 sides are covered with liner units and mixed use. Wide sidewalks with trees with street parking, green spaces, and great architecture overall. A true 15 minute city that was very well designed!

Except there’s no office so you need to commute to work

Half of the units in this part of Miami are live/work rentals

Yeah

Disagree. It’s just flat and superficial, no history, a new development on top of old tracks. Zero cultural life, just an automated miami-way-of-life packed in 15 blocks, first floor with overpriced dinning, apartments on top, clubbing.

Downtown has better potential to be a “real” neighborhood, along with the beach and parts of CG.

I love Midtown, but saying it is the best does not give credit to other amazing neighborhoods. Brickell is my favorite, because it is in the center of so many great neighborhoods. To me, it most embodies the character of a large world-class walkable city. The metro mover and rail systems weave through high rises, giving it a buzzy tropical urban landscape, and make it easy to get to different spots. There are always people around and a variety of stores, restaurants and offices.

Brickell is not very walkable/pedestrian oriented though and has no green space

LOL you’re a student, so you must be an expert.

This building is beautiful and I wish more buildings looked like this. Good architecture, good height, good street presence, no mural/podium, etc.

100% agree with you. Perfect height. Great design. Love it a lot.

Just need a metro mover to go here so it is accessible to the city core.

Yep, so homeless rides can see right through your windows.

Absolutely and Riverside, most stunning views of the Skyline are there. Would help alleviate all the SoBe traffic and build up west of I95x

I agree with you. I live on 8 street and 9 ave, my view is to die for. All the way from Edgewater to coral gables

You won’t see above the I-95 flyovers.

How will building more alleviate traffic? We need an east-west Metrorail line from South Beach to Government Center Station, and then to Riverside continuing west.

The worst traffic in Miami is around I95 from Wynwood to the Florida turnpike. If people can live near the city core, they won’t need to drive into the city on I95.

Isn’t there already a project proposed along the Miami River at a similar height? We need more development like 1428 NW 14th Avenue along Calle 8 and Flagler Streetm to replace gas stations, strips mall, car dealerships, and that Presidente, and less pharmacies, banks, and fast-food restaurants with drive-throughs.

And all the empty storage buildings. They are unsightly and don’t do anything for the neighborhood. We can redirect storage facilities to where land is less valuable.

Good addition to midtown but there needs to be dedicated uber pick up spots in front of the building.

Yeah cars always stop traffic with blinkers

Midtown low-key better than Brickell – yeah I said it. Midtown is obvious not great to get to as its basically grid lock but once you are there it is by far a more practical neighborhood with tons of shops, restaurants and proximity to other F&B/entertainment areas.

looks like they will have the same great amenities as the hotel in Miami Beach. cool project. exciting for the neighborhood. the renderings look slick and the pool looks like the best in the area. I heard theres going to be a roof top restaurant which will be AMAZING for midtown.

Lovely interior. Great use of the vivid colors that Miami is famous for, and nice outside design as well.

You must be color blind, because I’m not seeing those “vivid colors that Miami is famous for.”

Love that there’s no parking component. Midtown is getting almost impossible to walk with cars completely clogging the streets.

only at the Hyde area and this area in the future, that is why there needs to be more parking places for uber.

There’s a parking garage adjacent with hundreds of empty spots. They will lease parking from there.

As it should be all over the urban core. More buildings should follow this model and use pre-existing parking.
