South Beach will finally be getting a Trader Joe’s next year.
The developers of a mixed-use project planned at 1698 Alton Road announced that the cult grocery chain has signed on to open on the ground floor, according to The Real Deal.
Broker materials show a fully executed lease for 15,533 square feet of space. The actual store size will be about 11,500 square feet.
Those who are really addicted will have a chance to live directly above the store. The five-story project will also include residential units on the upper levels.
Trader Joe’s last signed a lease in Miami-Dade in 2012 for a store in Pinecrest. That location opened in 2013, and has been so popular that the store has found it necessary to employ people to direct traffic in and out of the parking lot on weekends.
The store is scheduled to open in the second half of 2018, with groundbreaking later this month.
