Transit-Oriented Luxury Condo Planned Next To Wynwood’s Upcoming Train station

Developer Rilea Group has announced plans to build The Rider at Wynwood, a transit-oriented development.

The luxury condominium will have a rock-n-roll theme, and will be built next to Wynwood’s upcoming train station along the Brightline tracks.

“The upcoming Brightline station, situated just 85 yards from The Rider at Wynwood site, symbolizes the exciting future ahead,” said Diego Ojeda, President of Rilea Group.

The Rider at Wynwood will rise 12 stories, and include 146 condos allowing for short-term rentals on platforms such as Airbnb.

Units will be delivered fully finished and furnished.

Contractor Coastal Construction will begin construction later this year, with delivery slated in late 2026.

Deforma Studio is the architect, with interior design by RADYCA.

Rilea Group is also developing the adjacent property to The Rider at Wynwood – Mohawk at Wynwood, a 12-story, 300-unit multifamily development with 31,000 square feet of ground-floor retail located at 56 NE 29th Street.

I applaud transit-oriented development and the luxury design with a rock and roll theme. However, extending Brightline isn’t the solution—it’s wasteful and short-sighted. Each area within the future Miami city core, including Wynwood, should be integrated into one unified metro system. The Metro Mover or another continuous ground rail would be ideal for seamless rapid transit between areas. It’s disappointing that Wynwood will be more connected to Aventura, Orlando, and Boca Raton than Brickell; integrating Wynwood with the Metro Mover would significantly enhance connectivity.

We should implement a new express Metro Mover track with three stops. Utilize the existing metro tracks at Brickell station and construct an extension that stops at the Brightline station in downtown and Wynwood. This three-stop shuttle would connect all three quadrants of the future Miami core, with just a 5-minute journey between stops and a 10-minute ride from Wynwood to Brickell.

No need to overthink it—I’ve already mapped it out. Let’s get it done NOW!

Yes, use the north rail federal grant on this! It’s a better plan.

You mean places for people with six figure jobs and those who want to get ahead in life.

Exactly, the planned Wynwood station is commuter rail, not real mass transit.

Metromoober is not real mass transit either. It’s an airport APC intended to serve downtown at a low speed and capacity, not miles away.

Enough with your Metro Mover bashing; your NIMBYism really ticks me off because it’s flat-out wrong. I’ve been around, and let me tell you, it’s hands down the best system I’ve seen in North America. If we could just get a straight line with three express stops, it’d be a game-changer, whisking folks from Wynwood to Brickell in no time. Otherwise, we seriously need to reconsider development there—it’s turning our roads into a nightmare.

We don’t have a “unified” system, unless it’s Metrorail for local transit. Obviously, you just want a free ride. Brightline utilizes and upgrades existing infrastructure. It’s a win-win.

Hold up—metro rail is meant for suburban commuter routes, and we all know it. Fine, charge for the Metro Mover, I don’t mind, but let’s face it: Wynwood won’t ever be fully integrated into the core without it.

every city has transfers, what are you on about? Government Center even has an in-station transfer now! I know I have hater in my name but at least I hate about things that matter.

Every other city also has express shuttle trains to get from one neighborhood to the next, not transfer to transfer to transfer to transfer.

Plus our transfers aren’t even convenient, like going across the platform. If it was a part of the same unified metro mover system it would be. These transfers involve multiple modes, often at different locations.

Other buildings with less units in this area are finished within a year and a half. Why is this slated for completion for 2026. They’re already prepping the ground on this lot. That intersection going into midtown and 29th st needs a traffic light now.

Every street along 2nd Ave (aka Park Avenue) from Brickell to Wynwood needs more traffic lights and crosswalks urgently. The City is too focused on a particular “boulevard” that serves a highway.

There is no Brightline station planned for Wynwood and will never be. Silliest thing ever that gullible folks react to. Why would train with a business model like Brightline’s (at best a commuter/express train if not intercity) start acting like a local metro? There are zero thinkers here it seems. It’s like anything can be written and they gallup off with it here.
