Tree Permit Approved At Under-Construction 43-Story 222 Namdar Site

At the 222 Namdar site where construction is already underway, a tree permit has been issued.

Miami’s Building Department issued the permit on August 6, records show.

The permit includes the removal of 5 trees from the project site and 6 tree from the right of way. It also calls for 14 tree replacement plantings on the property, and 9 replacement plantings in the right of way.

A total demolition permit was issued for the site in July.

Site work permits have already been issued, and a vertical construction permit is in review.

Foundation machinery for the 43-story tower arrived on the property in April.

Two 43-story towers are planned, with a combined:

  • 1,394 apartments
  • 7,984 square feet of retail
  • 336 parking spaces

John Moriarty the contractor.

The area is ripe for development. Too many boarded up store fronts.
Most of downtown looks like there was a Chernobyl disaster. I probably get a lot of thumbs down but it’s the truth.

You can blame a certain guy for that.

It’s the truth. Riverside and little Havana have a better chance of looking nice!

Removing old trees to plant palm trees that provide no shade. They should force them to replace them with big trees.

Really good project for the area (with a great parking ratio) that will help activate the many vacant shops around it

Its closer to Brickell than park west. I’m sure people will be moving here for affordable options near Brickell.

Hold on a second…why do the renderings show the finished buildings towering over the un-demolished “Miami Sun” hotel? I am all in favor of historic preservation but surely that is not what’s keeping that non-architecturally-distinct building standing, is it? Did the Miami Sun owners hold out when the plots of land surrounding the building were sold, or what’s the deal with that? Somebody enlighten Ol’ Riley, por favor.

Miami is going to have more of these holdout buildings being surrendered by larger developments. Already one in liberty city and 29th st and NE 2nd in Edgewater.
