Tri-Rail To Downtown Miami Now Estimated For Fall 2023

The head of the agency that runs Tri-Rail has released a new start date for train service to downtown Miami, according to Miami Today.

Tri-Rail train service to MiamiCentral is now expected to begin in Fall 2023.

The prediction was made at a presentation to the board of the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust.

The agency is now said to be in good communication with Brightline and its parent company over access to the MiamiCentral hub and train tracks, and they have been able to reach testing and training milestones.

Service was originally expected to begin in 2017.

Still but a minor delay compared to the clusterf**k that is Amtrak and the Miami Airport Station.

Going to be a game changer. I can’t wait to take tri-rail from downtown to West Palm Beach’s awesome historic train station. i95 who???

What

Brightline already does that

No…it doesn’t.

Brightline goes to the BRIGHTLINE STATION east of the Historic Train station. The Historic Palm Beach Train Station is served by Tri Rail and amtrak.

Two different stations.

The Brightline station is also hideous. I wish they had some architectural variety between each station. Even Tri-Rail did it with f-ing Opa-Locka.

Soon hopefully not dwarfed by Arquitectonica’s atrocious transit village redesign probably recycled from a never-built Miami project.

When we finally get this done, another question pops up, will they open that pedestrian bridge between Miami Central and Government Center station…..

The ped bridge is complete. It’s not open now because it goes to Tri-Rail’s platforms which are not accessible to the public until service starts.

“Service was originally expected to begin in 2017”… welcome to Miami where everything take soooo long to be build. This is simply ridiculous.

seeing the original “COMING 2019” sign is so funny to me all these years later, like I remember seeing it the first time I took the Brightline and thought “wow that’ll be great so soon!!” HA

I work 2X a week near Cypress Creek station in Ft Lauderdale and live in the Grove, currently I drive to the MIA station when I take the train. Going to be so nice to be able to just hop on the metro.

I think is better if the TRI RAIL goes to the private sector.

The problem here is that Trai Rail trains emit too much smoke, so they are not environmental friendly, also those trains Trai Rail use are old and dirty, so those are the reasons why they are not wanted in Miami central Station.

I read on a article that Tri Rail have being fixing the trains, so they don’t emit too much smoke and they are painting and doing some remodeling work on the old trains so they can be accepted in Miami Central Station

Compared to money pits like the 2nd Ave subway project, CA high speed rail or Honolulu’s HART system, we’re not doing too bad.
