Ultra Music Festival Tickets Are Sold Out: Back In Downtown Miami For The First Time Since 2018

Downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park will host Ultra Music Festival this weekend, after a four year absence – and tickets are sold out.

Ultra attracts more people downtown than any other event. The last time time Ultra was held at Bayfront Park in 2018, attendance topped 165,000.

According to Ultra’s website, tickets for this year’s event are sold out.

In 2019, Ultra was held on Virginia Key, after complaints from some downtown Miami residents.

The festival was due to return to downtown Miami the next year after coming to an agreement with commissioners, but the pandemic forced the cancellation of the event for the next two years.

A curfew in Miami Beach is affecting at least one venue that would normally attract some of Ultra’s crowds. Story Nightclub in South Beach announced it was temporarily closing this weekend and refunding tickets.

Miami beach doesn’t know how to easily thwart the low tier visitors from coming or causing problems. Now they’re making everyone suffer and the low tier folks will just walk around with blunts and bottles and roam mainland areas.

There is an “easy” way? Please explain how you would do it.

Making the low tier people uncomfortable being there by having other events on Miami Beach during spring break, having special hotel taxes during certain periods and targeted instagram ads to these potential low tier visitors that show a Miami Beach that is above them.

Honestly just make every bar and club have a $15-20 entry fee and that’ll end most of the nonsense 😂😂😂😂

They walk around with bottles and red cups though

Funny cause hotels could be $1000 per night have dress codes and have other events to try to take up inventory but guess what….. it’s not going to work they would still spend $1000+ on the hotel and hang in the streets and party like they do now, or get cheaper hotel by the airport and just hangout on the beach all day 🤪

OMG. I love it! Rached tax! Hotels should do the same.

cope, only 27 arrest the last downtown ultra and no shootings. Also ultra fans aren’t running out on bills at restaurants.

You’re talking about shit that happened years ago. Downtown hasn’t put up with ULTRA for four years. The trash, drunk girls laying in the grass everywhere, drugs, loud music, rowdy and unruly people, and more shit I don’t care to mention.

Don’t act like these condo owners downtown were just old people complaining about nothing.

See, that’s it with people like you.. you don’t have to put with whatever goes on at these ULTRA events so you just sit back in the quiet little enclave where you live and say, “cope with it.” That’s like telling the people who live in Ukraine and have to deal with the constant bombing from the Russia’s Army, “cope with it.”

Tell you what.. you move downtown close to where ULTRA takes place and see if you can “cope with it.. ” okay?

You live in a city core, in a city known for entertainment. You are delusional and must really be unhappy in life.

I also live right downtown I chose to live here for the events and energy they bring. I’m so glad our building is actually pulling a bit more away from the Downtown alliance. You should see the stuff they want these buildings to lend a voice to.

“You live in a city core, in a city known for entertainment”

Well, tell that to the people whining about what happens during Spring Break on Miami Beach. The hotels, clubs, bars, and restaurants are, how you put it, “glad” about the money and energy this event bring.

Do you blame Miami Beach government officials. A very bad element is ruining it for everyone. They don’t know how to behave properly and can be quite violent and are not even from the Miami area most of them.

The Mayor & Commission are clueless. Ultra weekend has never been a problem on the beach. Music week visitors are better behaved. So now they are hurting local venues on their most profitable weekend. Govt Incompetence

In order to understand how to keep the “low tier” visitors away it’s important to understand what attracts them. Unfortunately Miami Beach is trying to attract year-round residents that are happy with paying $30 for a juice at Whole Foods and low budget tourists who thing drinking a $30 margarita with an upside down Corona is the best the city has to offer. While it may prove to be a financial loss for the bars and clubs that profit off these tourists and there are more case studies needed, not having bars and liquor stores open around the clock seems to have helped remedy the situation.

On Ultra. It belongs in downtown. Night life, loud music, lights, crowds, this is what made Miami what it is today, to the ppl that bought a condo and will buy them(Waldorf) and complain..you bought a condo in downtown Miami, u knew what you were getting into. Don’t complain.

On Story night club…Miami beach is f’d. The ghetto sht ruining the beach aren’t at story. This mass punishment that the beach does is ridiculous but Geller is doing what Geller does..paving the way for mass redevelopment of Miami Beach to make it an exclusive resort town.

Anonymous

Miami Beach needs some serious redevelopment. It could be so much nicer.

Anonymous

Yup I’ve been saying this all along. If you buy a condo downtown you should accept the baggage that comes with living in a city.

Anonymous

Just don’t bring the baggage where you live huh?

Anonymous

Would you rather downtown be deserted and keep Ultra? All of those people can complain because they pay good money to live there. As a city, you want them there. I don’t get this “Ultra was here before you live there” argument. Ultra was there because downtown was a ghost town after 5.

When Beckham’s soccer stadium is finished at the defunct Melreese golf course site, ULTRA is going to be a blast there!

Melo is sigma and chad

Makes sense for it to be there too, next to a transit hub and a entire stadium and park space around it.

Anonymous

It will NEVER happen! It will interfere with MIA approach and departures.

Build the stadium
On game nights leave home an hour earlier, take Uber or ride Metrorail

Anonymous

So you’re saying the same spot where the Melreese golf right now sits doesn’t interfere with MIA approach and departures?”

Not Anonymous

this is BS. If you see how the planes depart and arrive, it is from the west and east, not the north and south. The stadium location will change nothing when it comes to flight paths. (Not to mention that the Sheraton right there is doing just fine)

Well this is what happens when you’re soft on crime. If we would simply send the message that despite the abuse of a few police officers against denizens isn’t going to be tolerated, neither will your disregard for the law, destroying property, attacking other denizens for whatever reason, acting up a fool on the beach or anywhere for that matter. But hey, keep it up. At this rate, we will have vigilantes actually doing what the police ought to do. Maybe the police can be defunded and let citizens who care protect the public.

Anonymous

I meant the riffraff from south beach who can’t afford to go to Ultra but will go to downtown nonetheless to stand outside the fence since South Beach now has a curfew and is cutting off alcohol sales early. The riffraff will go loitering around downtown as a result

Yeah, everything is great.

I feel like an optimal solution would to host Ultra at Hard Rock Stadium. It already has the parking, F&B outlets and has proven to be able to host events of that magnitude. Ultimately I feel the metrorail should extend all the way to the stadium so everyone can park at all the metrorail stations and not have to drive to Miami Gardens. While Bayfront Park is indeed a more beautiful setting its not a practical location this event.

Anthony

I agree they host rolling loud there and pretty much have been able to solve the issues with overcrowding when it was downtown. Granted RL is much bigger than ultra still thing Ultra at Sun life would be better for everyone.
