Unity Of Title Waiver Filed For Downtown Miami’s Okan Property, Where A 70-Story Tower Proposed

There’s been some recent activity by the developer planning downtown Miami’s Okan Tower.

On October 26, a Covenant In Lieu Of Unity Of Title was recorded with Miami-Dade’s Clerk of Court.

The document is typically needed to obtain a construction permit. It must be filed within 10 days of the city granting approval of the covenant.

Kasim Badak, CEO of developer Miami 6th Street LLC, signed the document on December 5, 2019. It was only countersigned by the city recently, however.

City records show that there hasn’t been any activity on the project’s construction permit since December 2019.

Okan is proposed to rise 70 stories and 902 feet, with residential condo units, a Hilton hotel, and office space.

I’d be so sad if this tower were not going to get built.
It’s stunning.

The real question isn’t “when”…

When the city get off their ass, and do their job.

This tower should’ve broke ground months ago. It’s supposed to be completed by 2023 if not 2024. I mean come on now. What is the unity permit? That doesn’t sound like something that has to deal with construction. This tower is also supposed to include office spaces. Of course Miami is going to need more office spaces to bring in good paying or high-paying jobs that will help them get through the cost of living in Miami. Millennials and Generation Z people would want this.

Developers always try to show the least amount of other buildings in the area.

We have an impostor. The real “Miami winning” person always uses an exclamation point.

Don’t understand.. Miami is winning what? Can’t even get a simple mass transit system to the beach when the mainland already has two that’s been in existence for almost forty years.

Miami winning!

Maybe they’ve been waiting for Melo to top off/significantly complete their adjacent construction while also getting their financing together.

Love the location and design. Close to MWC and Brightline. Bring more height to the area. Great infill!

Stunning design, but I fail to see many buying condos facing Melo’s 50 story towers within about 20ft from their balconies. I’m pessimistic about this project.

Plenty of similar situations in Brickell and they all sold or rented out.

So you conveniently ignore the MWC, the train station, BCC, etc etc etc…?

This building is also almost 400 ft taller than melo building and views to Brickell are going to be great!

Brickell? Why not the Bay?

It looks so beautiful standing alone…if it ever gets built it will be hidden by plain looking buildings. Downtown 5th for one. Maybe more duds later.

That’s because the city is full of Cuban communists. In every other big city LA,NYC. Buildings don’t take 10 years to build, that’s the big problem. And consequently why Miami will never be the metropolis it aims to be.
