Update Provided On 55-Story Legacy Miami Worldcenter

The developer of the 55-story Legacy Miami Worldcenter tower has provided an update on a construction halt, according to the SFBJ.

The developer expected to remobilize construction in around five to six weeks, the report said.

Construction has been halted since 2024. A foundation pour for the tower took place in 2022, with a crane installed in early 2023.

After the halt, a report said that the locations for electrical and plumbing shafts in the slabs that had been poured needed to be revised.

At least 12 lawsuits have reportedly been filed by contractors during the halt. However, the developer said some of the contractors “are longtime relationships,” with litigation only pursued to protect their rights.

The developer also now needs to replace the senior lender on the project, and expects to close on a loan soon.

Legacy Miami Worldcenter is planned to rise 55 stories, or 691 feet, with a design described as “neo-futuristic.”

The $500m Legacy was planned to include 310 condos, 219 hotel rooms, and a 10-story $100M Blue Zones health center.

I hope this happens because this is one the nicest towers currently “being built”!! The spire alone will make it a first for Miami!! And that rooftop pool? Wow.

Certainly not the first spire in Miami’s history, but first in many years.

What other highrise has a spire in Miami?

Rooting for this tower – it is my favorite proposed in Worldcenter

We need as many towers like this as possible. Towers that are beautiful and improve the skyline.

Great news

Why are good ones always more precarious to complete?

Vince

Maybe it’s because they’re more complicated to build?

No way. Other cities can do it easily. Miami just struggles to do much outside of the box.. pun intended.

Cities do not build skyscrapers, people do. Teams of people.

I read the same story about 10 months ago.
I hope this time it will be correct.

Of course one of the few towers without a plain flat rectangle top, is getting delayed

These people were ahead of the game in 2020 and everybody was so excited when they broke around. They were sold out …. I sad when they halted construction.

No chance this starts again. The developer does not have the cash to pay off the current liens. Long time friends or not “Business is Business”. No one is coming back to work on job with no payments. A new lender cannot take over until all the liens have been paid and the title is clean. Feel bad for all the folks with deposits.

If and when the new loan closes, the liens get satisfied before that closing. Sometimes the negotiation is still being done on the day of that closing.
By Florida law, builders can only use 1/2 of the deposits for construction, and if that individual buyer does not close they are entitled to get their other 1/2 back.

This land will be developed one way or another.

I don’t think this had anything to do with electrical or plumbing it had to do with the loan.

Why? The project is sold out.

Maybe the condos are sold out. Is the hotel and 10 story medical zone sold out? Why did the # of condos increase from 278 to 310? Hotel rooms decreased from 255 to 219. Just speculating….. hopefully they start construction again soon.

There’s too much going on with the facade. Not a great design.

Those e huge balls on top of the next door building are a bit ugly, they should turn them into disco balls or, at least, have them illuminated. If you can’t get rid of them, enhance them and incorporate them with the neighborhood. Worldcenter could pay the building owner to do so as it would make Worldcenter views nicer.

The Network Access Point of the Americas is critically important buildings for Internet connectivity in the Western Hemisphere. It connects to 15 submarine cables and over 150 countries, and is one of the world’s largest and most interconnected data centers. It is also home to the US State Depts Diplomatic Telecommunications Service.

Not sure if it is true, but someone told me that if this fortress was ever knocked offline, South America would lose their Internet for hours or days and be severely degraded for weeks. There is some redundancy, but it cannot be replaced.

No developer in World Center have enough money to remove them and you probably can’t paint those “balls”.

You can build a new station and cables a few blocks northwest tucked at a corner of a freeway interchange, and switch over in an instant.

Whelp, next time some “elected” pinko in South America give us trouble, we can shut it down. Never mind tariffs and sanctions.
