Urban Robot Associates Designs A Modern Tower Next To Historic Building At 29 Indian Creek

Urban Robot Associates, a Miami Beach architectural firm, has prepared a plan to redevelop 2901-2911 Indian Creek Drive.

JMH Development bought the property late last year for $5.65 million. Records show that the majority of the purchasing entity is controlled by hedge fund trader Dhruv Piplani, with a small stake owned by Jason Halpern.

Marriott’s AC Hotel is under construction next door, developed by Finvarb Associates.

The proposal calls for the partial demolition of a building at 2901 Indian Creek and the development of a one-story addition with rooftop deck to that building. The western building at 2911 Indian Creek will be restored, while the eastern building at that address will be demolished.

A new seven story building with rooftop deck and robotic parking garage is planned to be built on the eastern portion of the property. It would be distinguished by uniquely styled balconies, including white aluminum horizontal rails, along with a matching cap covering the balcony slab and matching louvers hanging below the slab.

The developers say that the new building is intended to be consistent with the historic built environment while, at the same time, being a first-rate modern architectural example.

Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board must approve the plan, which requires several variances. The board had approved a similar plan in 2006 which was never built.
