Urbanica Plans 20-Story, 200-Room Lifestyle Hotel On Newly Acquired Oceanfront Property In North Beach

A lifestyle hotel will soon begin construction on oceanfront property at 6747 Collins Ave, hotel developer Urbanica has announced in a press release.

The new hotel will rise 20 stories and include 200 rooms. It will include a signature restaurant by Chef Fernando Trocca, an indoor bar, pool bar and beach service.

Urbanica purchased the .98 acre property on August 27 for $40 million. The seller was China City Construction, which had planned luxury condos on the site.

Urbanica is also planning a hotel tower in Edgewater. The 200-room hotel will be called The Biscayne, and be built at 3200 Biscayne Boulevard, with views of Biscayne Bay. The hotel will have approximately 5,000 square-feet of retail space on the ground floor, a rooftop pool, restaurant, bar, game room and parking. An entertainment room on the 20th floor will feature numerous activations each month, such as live music, art shows and parties with world-renowned DJs. Opening is scheduled for late 2020.

Urbanica’s other properties include The Meridian, Regina’s Grocery, Kaskades Hotel, The Euclid Hotel, and The Fifth.

Marketing to a certain segment of the population, or a certain lifestyle; i.e., yoga, ZEN, hedonism, party scene, foodie. There could be a plethora of lifestyle properties.

I like it. Looks like a 5-star hotel just two doors down from The Cerillon Wellness Resort where my stepmom Sarah works. This area needs more hotels and this would definitely be the one. It may include a spa with steam room. It may even have rooms with two king sized beds. Miami Beach should approve it and have the hotel completed by 2022 or perhaps 2023.

If you noticed (which of course you didn’t) these are the renders from when the Chinese owned it. The new owners will not be re-using the old design.

Would you start before Deauville is resolved?

I lived here back in the 1980’s. There was a nice little older apartment building in this spot, rent was $350 a month, I really miss that place.

I bet it won’t be as good as the former proposal, and that was by Arquitectonica for Christ’s sake!
