Utilities Deal Completed For Downtown Miami’s Riverside Wharf

A water and sewer utilities agreement has been completed for the $185M Riverside Wharf complex in downtown Miami, allowing the project to proceed.

Over the weekend, a closing party was held at the The Wharf Miami venue currently on the site, ahead of construction work for the project.

According to the utilities agreement completed on September 5, the new Riverside Wharf project is planned to include:

  • 30,791 square feet of full service restaurant
  • 6,273 square feet of retail
  • 48,446 square feet of bar/cocktail lounge
  • 174 hotel rooms
  • 1,102 square feet of office
  • 14,313 square feet of banquet hall
  • 18 slip marina

MV Real Estate Holdings in conjunction with Driftwood Capital and Merrimac Ventures are the developers.

Cube3 is the architect, with landscape design by Savino-Miller Design Studio.

The Dream Hotel is going to help light up the riverwalk with art and entertainment, and connect Brickell to Downtown along the river!

Smart Miami Future

Could we potentially have Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in this area? While the map shows that Whole Foods is relatively close to Brickell, it takes around 20 minutes due to congestion on Biscayne Blvd in that downtown corner. I believe that just west of Interstate 95, there are several storage buildings that could be suitable for high-end grocery developments and master-planned projects.

NEWS: just up the river: brand new massive assemblage ripe for further river walk expansion.

A 1.2-acre development site on the Miami River owned by Babba Joshua Yesharim is on the market for $26 million.

“I am not listing it because I want to make 5x,” he said. “I want the area to continue to grow … This site is a very special site and it needs to get into experienced developers’ hands where they can build a world-class project.”

Talk about “dictatorship” and government telling you what you can do with your land. City of Miami has a backwards development scheme, surely it’s a “scheme.”

anon

And people are complaining about affordable housing in downtown, no wonder why there’s no housing everywhere else!

anonymous

We are working on changing this – you’ll see more world class assemblages along the Miami River and with Live Local act these will be mega developments.

Anonymous

Who is this “we” you shill for? Name the firm you’re involved in.

Anonymous

Not true, on the other side of the river there is no commercial zoning, so they are not able to take advantage of the Live Local act except directly on 8th and Flagler.

This is Saint Pete’s ambitious new riverfront plan, leading to the baseball stadium. It showcases smart urban planning, recognizing that riverfronts are ideal for connecting and uniting the city. Sadly, a similar vision is unlikely to occur along Biscayne Bay. Instead, we should consider replicating this approach with the Marlins Stadium. It’s puzzling that we fund a River Commission that seems ineffective when we could be investing in developing the riverwalk. Let’s hope that Dream’s vision can help us reimagine the entire riverfront, from the inlet to the stadium!

Wish it was somewhat tied to Miamis architectural heritage – either art deco or Spanish revival – the spaceship design seems kind of arbitrary

Anonymous

Spanish and art deco are old and outdated. Brickell is taking a more modern organic approach, and coming up with a novel architectural movement. It’s like to see more neoclassical Greek and Roman, classic American style integrated into the organic modernism.

Art Deco is a major element in Miami’s architectural legacy.

but ZERO zoning for anything nice on Jose Marti Park.. Its zoned T4R, you can’t even have a bodega on the park. But according to people on this site its the most walkable area… WITH NO FOOD SERVICES ASIDE FROM A PUBLIX 7 BLOCKS AWAY.

Yes, just like Santorini and the Cote Azur – it’s so soothing and gorgeous with all the white filling in, especially with all the ornate modern interiors and greenery on the lush, parks, and greenways and rooftops. Now we just need some signature domes and crowns to add to these modern lux Mediterranean vibes! comment image

Anon

I get a good chuckle out of the comparisons made on this site sometimes lol. “The overpasses are like the Brooklyn Bridge” “Marti Park is going to look like Central Park”

Bless your hearts..

Anonymous

They are bridges, downtown has overpasses.

Anon

You’re absolutely more than welcome to tell yourself whatever you like!

Anonymous

I’m just stating facts, which you keep ignoring:

, a bridge spans over water, such as this impressive permanent structure that doesn’t disrupt the flow of traffic or pedestrians. On the other hand, downtown highways are considered overpasses because they elevate over the landscape and people’s single-family homes.

While arches can be added to an overpass for aesthetic purposes, these arches don’t provide structural support and serve primarily as decorative elements. Additionally, overpasses do not typically traverse bodies of water.

Anonymous

Bridges are overpasses. Overpasses are bridges. What are you going to call them next, Miami’s Roman viaducts?

Anonymous

“An overpass is a structure that carries a road or railway over another road or railway [the Interstate 395 Overtown-Overpass via MWC in Park West]. It is essentially a bridge that is built over existing infrastructure. On the other hand, a bridge is a structure that is built to span a physical obstacle, such as a river or valley, to provide passage over it [the fixed bridge where Interstate 95 ends, connecting downtown to Brickell].”

These people don’t get how large Central Park is compared to Jose Marti… BTW the park Jose Marti isn’t even on the same side as this development.

Anonymous

Central Park isn’t even in the “center” of NYC from the perspective of being downtown. Lower Manhattan is downtown, which is where the term DOWNtown came from in the first place.

You could fit 100 Marti Parks into Central Park.

more like 300, this comment is insane. Central park is 842 acres, Jose Marti is 2-3 at best.

anonymous

Come on! Do the research like I did and spend more time there. Martí Park is 19 acres, one of the largest in the Brickell/Downtown urban core of Miami.

Anonymous

It says 8.9 acres on the Miami Dade Website, but most of that is parking lots and services under I95. So hes right, its 2-3 acres of open air park. Just look it up.

Isn’t it surprising that so few people know about the city they call home? No wonder it’s been overlooked by the city and developers for so long. But times are changing…

I’m here to remind you about Martí Park, a sprawling thirteen-acre green oasis owned by the public, nestled along the rapidly evolving Miami River Walk. It’s the perfect canvas for a central mega-development and a cutting-edge river walk design.

What’s more, Martí Park has just achieved a remarkable milestone. It’s become the first project in Florida, the second outside of New York, and the twelfth nationally to earn the prestigious WEDG® (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines) Verification.

So, without a doubt, Martí Park is destined to become Miami’s very own Central Park. It’s a centrally located, vast waterfront park ripe for modern redevelopment, within easy walking distance of Brickell and Downtown.

Ana

Its not 13 acres… This is a NYC think tank trying to co-opt the area with their development standards. Its 13 acres including the Cherite group development, but it is not 13 acres of park. Also lets not forget more than 50% of Jose Marti sits under I95

MM305

jose marti is 2-3 acres, central park is 842 acres. The two are not in the same universe. You need some help. It could be like Bryant park, maybe Union Square, but thats it.

Miami River Walk Alliance

Come on! Does anyone know the city they live in? No wonder it seems so forgotten and underutilized by the City and Developers! Well, until now…

I’m here to remind YOU👉Martí Park is THIRTEEN ACRE (13) lush publicly owned green space along the rapidly developing Miami River Walk, ideal for a central mega development and river walk design.

Also, it just became the first project in the state of Florida, second outside of New York, and twelfth nationally to earn the rigorous WEDG® (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines) Verification.

SO yes Martí Park will be Miami’s Central Park because its central and huge waterfront park ripe for modern redevelopment adjacent and walkable to Brickell and Downtown.

Anonymous

you are wrong, the park is mostly under I95 and is parking and basketball courts and a pool. The open air portion of the park on the rive is a mere 3 acres. Look it up on Miami Dade website and the Cherite group website about their development.

This enigmatic quality adds to Miami’s allure, underscoring the need to personally explore the city to reveal its genuine beauty and worth. Check out Riverside!

Wow, another exciting Riverside transformation project! Thank you for sharing this vision. Let’s join forces to enhance all waterfront developments and create a world-class destination for Miami’s future. This public-private partnership is exactly what Miami needs to revitalize the abandoned boat and storage warehouse district, much like Hudson Yards transformed Manhattan’s West Side into a premier global destination. Just as no one saw it coming then, you’ll witness the Miami River walk achieve the same greatness. Together, through extensive public and private collaboration, guided by top-tier designers and developers, we can make this vision a reality!

“Miami Riverside Center will transform over 3 acres of underutilized space along the Miami River into a waterfront residential mixed-use project, providing public access to a new multi-level restaurant complex and creating an expanded public Riverwalk to be used and enjoyed by Miami residents and visitors alike. The project will be a valuable and integral addition to the area, providing a beautiful and accessible space for the community to enjoy and contributing to the development of the Miami River area.”

they don’t allow commercial or retail on the Little Havana side of the river. They restrict it on purpose to insulate some developers from having competition from a cheaper alternative.

Free Miami from Dictators for New River Walk Zone
12 days ago

Exactly! The city is prioritizing northward expansion, even in areas lacking adequate transportation, and wasting taxpayer money on unnecessary infrastructure rebuilds. Instead, they could be implementing smarter plans to reduce congestion and enhance the attractiveness of the central area where people prefer to live. Why are the Cuban leaders keeping their own people in poverty and obstructing the city’s development by discouraging prosperity and efficient urban planning? It feels like a form of authoritarianism from the City of Miami!

its not going to cloak Jose Marti… The part of the park with Cherite group and the tall towers is under I95 on the brickell side, not Little Havana.
