Utilities Deal Signed For 2,360 Residential Units At Former Miami Arena Site

The owner of the former Miami Arena site has signed an agreement with the county to supply utilities for a massive new project.

According to the agreement, the project will include:

  • 2,360 residential units
  • 28,000 square feet of full service restaurant
  • 12,500 square feet of retail

The developers will receive a credit for a 16,500-seat sporting facility previously connected to the utilities system to reduce the new connection charge.

The connection charge is estimated at $2,085,466.50. There’s an additional Biscayne Basin Sanitary Sewer Special Connection charge estimated at $1,265,004.

Alex Witkoff signed on behalf of developing entity WG 700 North Miami LLC. The agreement was dated April 27.

In recent months the developer obtained FAA height approval for construction cranes rising 779 feet, and a permanent tower height of 685 feet above ground.

An old rendering of a convention hotel planed on the site, which is now being replaced with a new design:

I must look Melo Downtown 5th-tier shite and the developers want to release it at the last minute so it can be pushed through… but I hope I’m wrong and it ends up being an amazing development.

DESANTIS and his puppet state reps are trying to take away the liquor license because of a drag show. Now they are banning drag queens at the pride festival in the gay neighborhood of Wilton Manors. That is like going to Little Havana and telling them they can’t have those glittery Cuban Latina performers at the street festivals.

I warned you all. This Governor bait and switch us all and is ruining the state to score political points… but it will backfire because freedom always wins and freedom is on the side of the drag queens and anyone else who wants to say what they want to say. Freedom trumps the Government!!!!!! 🇺🇸

2000 jobs lost because of DeSantis. His wore on woke, is making Florida go broke. Not only that taxpayers are paying 1000s an hour in legal fees for frivolous and lawsuits damaging the state. Impeach him!!

Mayor Suárez, thank you for speaking up against the Governor’s vengeful movement, which is hurting people and costing the State billions. Confident in Miami with you at the helm!

So little area designated to retail and 4,000 people living on top???? Missed opportunity for a supermarket.

There’s a publix right around the corner lol

You forget these are the same people who complain about walking anything greater than the span of a block and want free Metromover at their doorstep.

Anonymous

Politely note you are conflating two issues. Stations versus crosswalks.

Based on my experience people will walk 10 blocks to a Metromover.

BUT when it comes to crossing a street, they want a crosswalk at every block. People are not going to walk blocks out of the way when they need to get from point A to point B.

Especially when you get into the summer months. With humidity it feels like 92 outside in downtown today. If there’s not enough shade trees, it’s brutal to walk even 5 minutes.

A trader Noe’s and Whole Foods will come to Worldcenter. With the huge people growth in that area, it’s inevitable.

Sorry

Probably not Whole Foods because there’s one a few blocks away but Trader Joe’s is greatly needed downtown for sure

Whole Foods is far by foot from Worldcenter. They need one at walking distance as the population grows.

Bring Sprouts and Fresh Market to Miami. So many better grocery chains just north of Miami that people would love in this market.

Wow. What happened to a promised public park after the Miami Arena was demolished? You don’t think that area has enough overdevelopment as it is? I mean there will literally be NO green space left in the next year or two in downtown Miami…. if not already. Damned the horrible infrastructure with the tiny streets…. Damned the floods when it rains mildly. Just build, build, build huh? smh. You will reap what you sow.

Anonymous

Is this a joke? Downtown Miami has TONS of green space. We have two beautiful parks almost right next to each other and another, Margaret Pace Park, just a short walk away. When was the last time you visited the 305?

Anonymous

Are there any large parks surrounded by tall buildings in all four sides like Central Park?

So there will be no new Miami convention center anywhere? Until just the JLKC and Hyatt lot is rebuilt, but also as residental towers, not necessarily with a convention center focus?

Unfortunately, in Sunbelt downtowns “retail” means restaurants and bars.

Anonymous

Let’s hope. We need way more restaurants and bars, specifically those that do not cater to the Instagram/tourist crowd.

What is a sunbelt? Miami is in it’s own category. Hell, it’s even considered Caribbean by many.

Anonymous

People who still call it North Cuba, sure. If you don’t know what sunbelt is, you probably voted for Christ and slept in civics class.

Anonymous

I wish I voted for Christ after seeing what a failure the governor has been. I’ve never seen someone fail so much through “legislative success.”

Anonymous

You cannot honestly think Miami resembles any “sunbelt city.” Miami is its own category, not to mention way classier than any generic sunbelt city.

Mayor Suárez said something to the effect that we are at the epicenter of 6 and hopefully 7 markets. 1) California ; 2) New York; 3) Europe; 4) Middle East; 5) Latin America; 6) Canada; and hopefully soon 7) Asia via Seoul and Tokyo. He is the the kind of smart Republican we want in Florida, as long as he doesn’t Uturn to the extremists in the panhandle.

Anonymous

Check out his Twitter feed lately. I had hope for him, but it seems he’s moving rapidly to the far right. Looks like he’s realizing the only chance of winning in today’s republican party is to be a lunatic.

No way in hell it’s Caribbean – people are fleeing the Caribbean to be in America. This is not sunbelt either, this is South Florida, more like New York and New Jersey than the south or Caribbean.
