Video Of The Kinetic Facade Planned At 830 Brickell, Will Become Miami’s Second Tallest Office Tower

Miami’s 830 Brickell office tower will use a “kinetic facade” that flaps in the breeze, a newly released video shows.

Project representatives showed the video at a presentation before Miami’s Urban Development Review Board last month.

The facade will capture the breeze while masking a parking garage, according to architects for the project.

Architects also provided a link to the product specs. A parking garage at Boston’s airport uses the same system.

830 Brickell is under construction and will become Miami’s second tallest office tower upon completion.

Y’all always bitchin about hurricanes! Don’t y’all think they already came across that bridge and made it safe in case of a hurricane? At least they trying something different and that still isn’t good enough for you complainers!

wolfgang731

You got that right. The depth and breadth of their pettiness knows no bounds.

Lol before I got to the comments I was going to say “hurricanes”, u shut me up on my tracks…but still that would be a sight if a hurricane ripped them off and it all went flying in the air lol

Anonymous

“Try something different” That worked out so well for the FIU bridge.

Anonymous

Stunning!!! They are setting a high standard for future developments in Brickell.

Anonymous

Monotonous, looks like it can be anywhere. It lacks regionalism and passion. It’s a one trick pony.

Anonymous

Our company has worked with this manufacturer as they also make hurricane rated skylights and windows. They over engineer their products and they are top quality and very costly. With their knowledge of hurricane products I wouldn’t think it would be a problem, as it will still have to be tested .

Anonymous

I like it. It’s different. Why not?

Anonymous

Because it’s not appropriate for Miami. Yet one more distraction while driving. Nice.

Anonymous

i think its a fantastic unique concept…..kudos to developer

Yee Haw

One trick pony.

Hurricane season gon’ be LIT.

Anonymous

Awesome! Another parking garage! Loving it.

Anonymous

It is so annoying to watch !!!
It will be disturbing to anyone walking by or the neighbors…

Anonymous

That looks stupid

Anonymous

Compared to what? Assorted sheet metal and/or a tacky mural seen on buildings only blocks away? Don’t forget about the giant hideous parking garage being built down the street, too.

Anonymous

Compared to buildings like the Courthouse Downtown, Freedom Tower, Irish Rite Building, Alfred I duPont building, shall I go on?

Anonymous

Lip stick on a pig. still a giant parking garage at the base with no life visible until you get hundred feet in the air.

either no garage or cover with the same curtain wall and provide back lighting.

Anonymous

I literally can’t take anyone on this site serious anymore… Always complaining about boring lack of creative and now someone dose something different and yall are mad. UGH

Anonymous

I know. They’ve really fuc*ed this site up. Sad.

Anonymous

Yeah, what a bummer.. because of this parking podium, I’m now turned off from renting an office in it and going anywhere near Brickell.

You’re right, I’m so dismayed….

Anonymous

it’s more than YOU

Anonymous

Oy vey… the term is fur-klempt!

There many new lovely office options in Aventura. Only short drives to a whole host of strip malls, or the Aventura Mall.
I can assure you….you dont have to feel unsafe, feel stress, or feel uncontrollable anxiety each day thi king about hurricanes and debris.

Aventura office architects are smarter and more thorough than Adrian Smith. What has he ever done?

Anonymous

so you are an office broker in Aventura?

Anonymous

Adrian Smith designed Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Trump Tower in Chicago, and Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai. Obviously you’re just trolling at this point

One trick pony.

During a hurricane these things fly off. Love that #LoveMIAMI

Anonymous

So?? If you are walking outside during a Hurricane you deserve to get hit by one of these tiles.

Anonymous

haha.. funny

Anonymous

I feel bad for all the buildings near this during the next hurricane

Anonymous

Oh well… if you live in this area you can get on a private jet and escape the hurricane.

Anonymous

Stupidest thing I’ve heard here yet..

Anonymous

My thoughts exactly. Each tile will become a small missile flying 200mph if the rings that hold them break up. I hope there is a stringent code to adhere here.

Anonymous

why would someone get hit by a tile during a Hurricane? Why are you stupid enough to be outside during a Hurricane? You are a very smart person!

Anonymous

Property damage duh

Anonymous

And where did you get your engineering or architectural degree from?

Anonymous

“I feel bad for all the buildings near this during the next hurricane”

Yeah.. all the other buildings in Brickell fared well during hurricane Andrew.

I mean, do most people in Miami actually have a brain?

Anonymous

They didn’t have this “kinetic” projectile farm next to it….but they will now

Anonymous

No. Read all the dumb ass comments.

Anonymous

Oh wow
I’ll be scouting the area for the loose pieces.
Great souvenir

Anonymous

Yes, great idea. We can make a few nice mobile sculptures.

Anonymous

If we cut em into pieces we can also make wonderful wind chimes. I have a knack for audible Art

Anonymous

If you take them to the Opalocka Flea Market and call it art you can make some mula.

Anonymous

Precisely

Anonymous

If you take it to Wynwood you can call it art and make some mula.

Anonymous

why? Did anybody watch the example video at Boston Airport? You will see that they are supported & won’t make any noise

Anonymous

Because boston is where I want my hurricane debris tested

Polo

Stay away from this tower during a hurricane, or tropical storm; You may be decapitated.

Anonymous

Yep.. other than that people, you can just casually walk around in a hurricane or tropical storm.

Sheesshh.. there are some really smart people in Miami.

Polo

They walk casually in Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia during a hurricane, or tropical storm. Haven’t you seen videos of people having there umbrellas blown away while going about the daily lives during a hurricane in that part of the world. Also, in Miami there are a few people around Brickell (and Miami) that have taken videos during a hurricane. Maybe you are one of them. Sheesshh…there are some really smart people in Miami!

Anonymous

Yeah man, who cares about the threat of being electrocuted because of some downed power lines, getting your brains knocked by some flying debris, the warnings to seek shelter or stay inside, warnings about going out on a boat, and by all means don’t ignore warnings about underestimating the power of hurricane force winds just because people “walk casually in Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia during a hurricane, or tropical storm.”

Anyone who thinks Polo makes sense would walk down a dark alley at night because he said it’s safe.

Anonymous

That’s because the HongKonese have cojonese.

Anonymous

Real Floridians go out in hurricanes especially in the eye….you transplants can stay in your towers

Miami

True that. Nothing worse than the stress of enduring a Cat3 or more. No electricity, no cellphone service, no gas, chaos in the markets with a ton of people grabbing cases of beer, the list goes on and on.
A native Miamian uses air miles and escapes.
No one will get hit by these projectiles but its does seem like a silly design idea for Miami.

Anonymous

Yeah.. and then we hear on the news about some dumbass Floridians who got killed because they dared to step outside during a hurricane.
