Vox Transit Oriented Development Has Topped Off Next To Metrorail, Designed To Encourage Walkability

Vox Miami, a mixed-use transit-oriented development, has topped off, photos released by architect Perkins + Will show.

The development is designed to encourage walkability and rapid transit. It is being built just a four minute walk from the South Miami Metrorail Station.

Vox will includes a 99-unit student housing development with 326 beds. Each unit will be equipped with a private living room and kitchen.

The $125 million project also includes office and retail space. The area underneath the Metrorail will also be rebuilt with restaurants, gardens and recreational opportunities for the community.

Amenities for residents will include a pool, rooftop terrace, fitness center and resident lounge

Students will be just one train ride away from the University of Miami.

Treo Group is the developer.

Love this project I don’t think Miami has build up around the colleges UM FIU. They could be mini cities( like college town Tallahassee) and create growth and to retain more students.

Agreed. Around UM and FIU need to be built up.

I agree, but I doubt that the residents of Coral Gables will stay quiet if the university continues to try and expand. Their best option is to build on their portion of US 1 like what is happening at the Link at Douglas on 37th ave.

Yes the two Link at Douglas project are fantastic additions. Good looking buildings.

Around UM yes it is good bc the metro is there, but FIU has no good transit options.

Agree, also the renderings show a section of the project next to the Metrorail that wasn’t built, or will be a second phase?

I just got off and walked that entire area of the University of Miami MetroRail stop in September and I don’t remember seeing any restaurants under it.

Somebody tell me if I’m wrong?

Restaurants underneath the Metro connected to the underline pathway (that’s taking 6yrs to build) would be nice… we need renderings

It may be in the works, I read an article on the RealDeal that says the county is requesting bids for development of the Vizcaya Station. Proposals are due at the end of this month so I suspect that it is only a matter of time.

Is there any net new parking or all the parking is contained in the existing garage?
