W3 Proposed In Wynwood, Painted In Red

Plans for a new mixed-use project have been filed in Wynwood.

The project name is listed as W3 in the submittal.

The new development is proposed to rise 143 feet and include:

  • 34 residential units
  • 5,250 square feet of ground floor retail space
  • no onsite parking, six offsite spaces (reduced by payment into the Wynwood Parking Trust Fund)

Architectural materials will include red metal railings, red architectural frame, red painted stucco, red mullion, grey tinted glass (upper levels), and clear glass (ground floor).

A total of 2 zoning waivers are requested.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

A hearing before the Wynwood Design Review Committee is scheduled for July 18.

Wynwood 83 Owner LLC, is the applicant. Kushner and Block Capital are shown on the submittal package as the developers.

Red ceramic tile will hold up better than anything painted.

agree. Or at least they could have done a really red brick with red dyed cement. Saw that in NYC.

It feels like a second, more luxurious and enjoyable, version of Ny and all the NYers are here, as well as Canadians and Californians. Miami has become so much more diverse and exciting!

Red painted stucco will fade within 1 year and look 3rd world. Prove me wrong

All the old red buildings on the bay in southern Brickell look worn out and out of place. They should be blue or white. I think red works on interior low rises like this one, with an inner-city urban vibe but not high rises, especially by the water. The red contrasts too much on big buildings against the blues of the sky and water, but I like the red for low rises in Wynwood.

Duh.
Of course it will fade…you tell me how much you think it will fade and I’ll likely bet you.

I’ll bet you $10,000 cash that the architects already thought about this, and that it will fade less than than the pair of jeans I’ll buy the day you show your Proof of Funds.

would be interesting if they painted it another primary color every few years…..then the paint issue wouldn’t matter

Its Certainly Bold. Not sure I love it.
But if this building is going to work anywhere, its going to work in Wynwood.
Nice to have something a bit different

The good news is that ALL of the Forts (AKA Arquitectonica) are billionaires…. so they are solid to continue whatever.

5 Stories @ 143 ft? Looks to be at least 10, like its neighboring NoMad Residences.

Also, all of that red paint will fade so quickly…

Finally, the embedded map location is completely wrong, renders show this west of 2nd Ave, between NW 27th Terrace & 28th Street.

Love the red exterior. However, I counter nine floors, NOT five.

Happy to see Arquitectonica going to their retro days
This is stunning.
About time we see more whimsical stuff. Enough of pseudo Mediterranean look. Cities evolve.
If it weren’t for a revolution, Barcelona wouldn’t have the Gaudi iconic buildings.

Awesome. Though I hope it’s not surrounded by boring parking lots as shown in the renders.

Yikes – I was just thinking how ugly red looks in Miami. I like the white and blue buildings like Santorini. But I guess since this neighborhood is going for a more NYC red brick vibe, red is fine, but coastal areas work better with white and blue.

Red is incongruous to the natural environment and existing color scape. This is an eyesore and comic relief

Not sure what it is you love. It basically looks like a big Target box. I don’t see any architectural merit in this.

Paving over the planet with unaffordable housing. 800 sq.ft for over a million. High taxes.. And who cares.

They should name this the My Period Building.
