Walmart is planning a superstore in the Keys, according to Keysnet.
It would be the first Walmart in Monroe County. Walmart has been aggressively expanding in Dade County recently.
Plans call for a 123,000-square-foot store, smaller than Walmart’s typical superstore. It would open in 2017.
The Walmart would be part of a 335,000-square-foot shopping center proposed for Rockland Key. It would be built on a 33-acre site, and include 1,258 parking spaces.
Walmart says that it plans to invest $30 million in the store.
