Worldcenter Metromover Station Closes For ‘Major Renovation’

Miami-Dade transit said it is closing the Park West Metromover station, beginning today.

Closure of the station is expected to last up to six months.

A “major renovation” is planned, with the upgrades being a key component of the Miami Worldcenter project.

The enhancements will include, replaced tiles, new entrance canopies, refurbished escalators, new seating, new lighting, and fresh paint.

Two alternative stations, Freedom Tower, and Eleventh Street, are “approximately a three-minute walk” away, MDT said.

Miami likes to make a huge deal out of what most cities consider to be basic upkeep (lighting, painting, escalators etc)

We’re fortunate to have such advanced and adaptable systems in place, which makes it easy for everything to shine with just a bit of upkeep. Hopefully, we can do these updates quarterly so they go unnoticed—sometimes the best improvements are the ones no one has to talk about—while retrofitting new technology, lighting, and surface trends to keep up with the Jetsons.

Are all the metro mover stations getting quiet soundless oversized fans to cool us down in the summer with soothing spa music built into surround sound speakers?!

Incredible updates could be on the way from the picture!

The Freedom Tower station was supposed to close for less than 1 year and was closed for over 3 years.

Let’s hope this station closure is a LOT less time.

Can we get a new neighborhood called Wonderland?

I hope they don’t change the name to Worldcenter Station.

They almost encompass all three and could change them to Worldcenter, Worldcenter North (11th street) and Worldcenter south (Freedom Tower)..

My favorite part of Miami is the Metro Mover system—and its potential to connect vibrant areas like Park West and Brickell with up-and-coming walkable Downtown neighborhoods, promising to be even more inspiring than the marvels rising today.

When every Metro Mover stop shines bright, Miami shines brighter together, spreading light and inspiration across the county!

If we only had more neighborhoods connected through it…

If only we used our resources better i.e., more feasible transit solutions than expanding a shortbus with minimal capacity, low speeds, and frequent breakdowns.

Overtown is looking inspiring with that new target and aldis right by Brightline, and so close to the incoming Metrocenter neighborhood

O.K. ChatGPT. Metromoober is and always has been a joke, and will do little to nothing in solving our traffic woes. That’s what MetroRAIL is for.

Metromover does 500,000 – 600,000k rides per month and growing. Yea, downtown traffic would be just fine without it…

Yan Jammer

Of course a decade ago before uber and falling gas prices it was near a million a month. With the colossal construction and supossed downtown population boom, it should be there again or better by the next decade. 40k a day.

Who wants an app tracking your every move just to sell your data, especially when so many drivers struggle to read road signs or navigate properly—and some even result in collision. Rather be behind the wheel 🚝 or on a driver-less, automated Metro Mover ride!

Get it right, Icarus. We are the inspiration, not the other way around. Our divine intelligence cannot be replicated by models crafted by mortals of yesterday, no matter how quickly they mirror our thoughts. As humans, it is our soul that drives the engine forward.

Starting in like 2 weeks MDT is closing the entire Coconut Grove metro rail stop, should be a criminal offense.

For renovations, says it will reopen in spring, which is unlikely.

What. Crazy. Hadn’t heard that.

They need to start repainting the rails too. They are peeling and looking a bit weathered everywhere.

Expanding the metro to Wynwood, Midtown Edgewater, or even across the bay to the Beach?

Best I can do for you is slapping on some rainbow paint and closing an existing station for half a year to do it

Can they remove all the parking under the tracks and below the DOT ramps, in conjunction with Miami Dade transit authority – conceal parking in garages, its biggest waste of space and ugly to see the cars parked and left there in these prime areas.

The Metro Mover is one of Miami’s greatest luxuries. Skipping 5-10 blocks and saving 30 minutes to an hour of walking time is a total game changer, especially with all the places we visit in a single day ⚡🏃‍♂️💨🔛🔝 🪙
