Worldcenter’s New Pedestrian Promenade Closer To Completion

Miami Worldcenter’s 7th Street Promenade is getting closer to completion, new photos show.

The images below show the entrance to the promenade from the Freedom Tower Metromover station.

Palm trees along the promenade are already in place, and were planted in July.

Under construction on the south side of the promenade is a 43-story luxury apartment tower called Bezel, which will have 434 units. Completion is expected by the end of 2021.

Also under construction on the south side of the promenade is a multi-level retail and food and beverage center, along with a parking garage. Among the tenants in the retail center will be cosmetics retailer Sephora, along with restaurants Maple & Ash, and etta.

On the north side of the promenade, the CitizenM hotel is expected to open by the end of 2021 with 351 rooms.

Also under construction on the north side of the promenade is the “jewelry box” retail building, which will sit in front of a public plaza called World Square. The steel frame of the building is visible in the first photo.

The driveway entrance to the tower just after the entrance to this plaza is bad design. Two car driveways adjacent to an active rail line and a ‘pedestrian corridor’ that is literally underneath a metromover stop?

Said someone with no city planning or engineering degree. Thanks for the great insight.

But he can whine about something that doesn’t affect him one iota.

As someone who walks by here daily, I agree. Need to create a good pedestrian zone for the entire neighborhood.

I see your walking hasn’t been impeded though.

Said someone with an urban planning degree.

Having so many interactions with cars isnt safe — but I see you’re a cheerleader for whatever is built, even if it is not good design.

Someone with a urban planning degree design this. So obviously they don’t know it all either lol

That was the first thing I saw too. “Pedestrian promenade” and … a driveway through the middle? Nevermind the project killed the grid and replaced with a parking garage entrance at 9 Street too.

Never mind Metromover flyovers ruin any pedestrian experience.

But they also add to it.

Please do something about the chain-link fenced lots behind and around Freedom Tower.
it’s pitiful that a building that beautiful has to be surrounded by non-walkable wasteland

Blame MDC. Freedom Tower would make a fantastic boutique hotel with a high-class condo tower behind it.

Don’t you touch the Freedom Tower.. it’s sacred.

How long is it really going to take to complete the retail areas here? Moving to Miami soon. Is the construction slow?

It’s been a long time coming but once complete there’s no looking back!

I saw the facade for CitizenM from Biscayne Boulevard last week. The hotel looks very small, but am excited about the concept of a cool, boutique hotel in Downtown Miami – desperately needed!
