World’s Largest Cruise Terminal Nearing Completion At PortMiami

PortMiami has seen a number of giant cruise terminal’s completed in recent years, but none are bigger than the new MSC Terminal that is now moving closer to completion.

MSC’s $450m PortMiami facility will be the world’s largest cruise terminal when it opens later this year.

It will have capacity for 36,000 guests each day, with 3 cruise berths. A parking garage for 2,400 cars is also being built.

Shore power is being built in to the new facility, helping to reduce pollution in the area.

MSC is heavily investing in Miami, with a new $100M headquarters office announced in Overtown.

The company has already announced a naming ceremony for its newest flagship—MSC World America on April 9, 2025, to be held at the new PortMiami facility.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

Extend the MetroRAIL to PortMiami, and tunnel and run alongside the causeway to South Beach!

What does that have to do with the fact that the largest Cruise Ship Terminal on the planet is opening WITHOUT the MetroRail?

The key decision makers didn’t seem to think that government train was needed in order to make $450m investment.

Too many NIMBY people in South Beach for that to ever happen. We need Metrorail expansion on the mainland.

Will shore power mean better architecture from them?

The garage is barely shown in the renderings but its really noticeable when passing by.

That parking garage is an eyesore. MSC covered a huge portion of land with glass, but they couldn’t “cover” somehow that parking garage? Also, the initial renders vs. reality are way off, it’s like a meme: expectation vs. reality. At least for me, this is a disappointment.

It is a shame this cruiseline over fills their ships and doesn’t have enough staff for the amount of passengers. Maybe if they improved that more people would actually cruise on their ships. Right now they are a disorganized mess.

Move on moron

Such an ignorant comment. How can “more people actually cruise on their ships if they already “over fill” them?

You sound like someone commenting based on stories rather than personal experience. Sailed on a sold-out Spring Break cruise with MSC and only waited 2 weeks after we got back to boom the next for Oct. It’s a megaship, so there are crowds, but it felt just as personal as RC sailings on ships 1000ppl smaller

I went on the Seascape in August and it was awful. It was completely oversold. They do not have enough staff for the number of people they place on their ships. The buffet lines were insane because they would close all of them except one when there was 1.5 hour and left of breakfast or lunch. The service was atrocious everywhere on the ship. I speak from experience not from what I heard from someone else. I went on a Royal in October and it was a completely different experience. Just because you don’t agree with my opinion doesn’t make it ignorant.

No one cruises on MSC anymore, yet the ships are too crowded?

How could a tunnel train block your view? What view are you referring to anyway? A car garage?
Train tunnel would be completely underground, end terminal included.
