Yotel Gets Approval, Will Be Built Without Parking

Yotel Gets Approval, Will Be Built Without Parking

Miami’s Planning & Zoning Department gave final approval for the mixed-use Yotel project last month.

Plans call for a 29-story tower split between apartment and hotel use. The project is to include:

  • 225 micro-sized hotel rooms
  • 188 apartments

No parking garage will be built. Previously, a 10-story garage had been proposed, but it was never approved.

Kuwait Real Estate Company Aqarat is developing the project together with local partner Aria Development Group. Stantec is the architect.

If you know any who want to rent in this building let me know. I have yet to meet a client who says “I am looking for an apartment with no parking”.

I suppose there will be clients (from out of town) that work or study downtown @ MDC and have no need for a parking space.

In 10 years when nobody will own a car those buildings will look a lot cooler than all the old buildings with empty parking garages. In the past 3 months Uber rides in Miami have been only $2.99 (and this includes parts of Broward up to Hollywood). For somebody living in Brickell/Downtown or the beach, owning a car is already a bad business. In a few years it will be a bad business for everyone else.

Ok sure.. let’s talk in 10 years.

Thumbs up. I can’t understand how some people are so out of touch with reality they can’t see this happening before their eyes. Your example is on point. I live in Brickell and my parents are in Hallandale. It costs me only $3 to go see them. But i should have kept this a secret from them… now instead of using their car they ask me to call a Uber for them every time they come to Miami. It’s more convenient and less expensive than even using the car they already paid for. I know Uber is subsidizing this for now, but electric autonomous cars are around the corner and this will become the norm. Cheap traveling from A to B, no matter the distance, and no need to pay for parking. Car ownership is almost obsolete and whoever doesn’t think so either lacks reasoning capabilities or works for Ford.

those uber drivers, where they will park them car?

What drivers? Uber is about to make its entire fleet driverless. They already started in California. Laws are already changing to allow it and sooner than you think laws will not even allow you to drive manually. This is not sc. fiction, it is happening now. You guys are in big time denial.

You’re a fool to believe all of this stuff is going to phase out human drivers and car ownership within 10 years. A huge fool.

No car owners in 10 years? So every car dealership in the country will close within 10 years? LMFAO

Have you been living under a rock? Cars dealerships are about to die the same way AMZN is shutting down the whole retail industry single-handily. Ever heard of disruptive technologies?

And to answer your question directly, yes car dealerships are already suffering. Watch the news and welcome to the 21st century.

LMAO at anybody thinking nobody will own cars in 10 years. I mean, wow, that’s some unintelligent stuff right there.

10% of the population of innovators and early adopters can live in no-parking buildings.. the rest of the population are looking for 1-2 parking spaces when purchasing condos and renting apartment. No doubt that technology does not stop, and cars will drive themselves in the future.

This will be perfect when we move the businesses located in Doral to Brickell.

It’s a great concept, but like Centro, is another ugly building, which is a shame considering the greater architectural freedom of not working with a parking garage.

Love Yotel, but this is one mediocre little boring building.
