Developer Announces Timeframe For ‘Transformative’ Riverside Wharf

An expected groundbreaking timeframe has been announced for downtown Miami’s Riverside Wharf project.

Driftwood Capital, which is partnering with MV Real Estate Holdings and Merrimac Ventures, made the announcement.

Groundbreaking for Riverside Wharf is now expected in the latter half of 2024.

The $267m development is expected to be “transformative,” and will feature a Dream Hotel.

The project benefits from being in an Opportunity Zone, and EB-5 capital is being sourced through Driftwood Capital’s affiliate EB-5 Regional Center.

Coral Gables-based Driftwood has three other projects either underway or expected to break ground in 2024, including Element by Westin Melbourne, Element by Westin Mission Valley San Diego, and the Westin Resort & Spa Cocoa Beach.

I’m most excited about this project which could be transformative for the River area. I wish it were under construction already….

Perfect height, location, and brand. Brickell and the greater downtown area will greatly benefit from more waterfront destinations like this along the Miami River. Riverside scène à faire is heading to Miami—I can’t wait!

Isn’t this in downtown…?

Yes, I share the belief held by many here that when your neighbors prosper, so do you.

Nailed it, it is, thats the downtown side of the river. Lets not lie to ourselves. But it would be nice to have buildings this height on both sides of the river.

LOADIN INCOMING COMMENT FROM BOZO SAYING IT SHOULD ONLY BE 3 FLOORS IN RIVERSIDE….

Nobody has been saying that – this is a great height for Riverside, too.

yeah, they have. There is a group of people on here saying that LH needs more density, but in three story buildings to avoid elevators. been said a lot on here actually – no one is saying it as much now because it seems stupid

Nope, Riverside/East Little Havana, a.k.a. inner city.

It’s more the core than Wynwood or Edgewater.

This project has all the Miami atmosphere and has everything it needs to be a great entertainment center in the city, attracting crowds. We’re hoping to get it ready as quickly as possible.

I hope they actually use the land under the overpass for something other than a parking lot and homeless camp

Nothing has been proposed for underneath the downtown distributor 🙁

We are advocating for a large scale park to sister the Under deck.

Yes there’s a new project being planned and funds allocated for it

Enough of the linear park nonsense! Relocate the FPL substation under those lots…

Anonymous

I mean I prefer a park or just a giant wall with cool designs and an air condition indoor center built into is better than the parking lots caged in with cheap fencing

I love everything about this project. It’s going to be my “dream” spot right here in Miami, especially since I can easily walk there from Brickell.

Anon

Why is it easy to walk here from Brickell, but nearly impossible to walk to Whole Foods for so many others? Can someone explain this because it makes no sense

Anon

Because we aren’t carrying groceries back and not everyone lives in that corner of Brickell.

Miamian

Methinks they just like to complain about not having a Whole Foods

Amazing! People want more entertainment and experiences in the center of the city here 😍 🎉

We would anyone build such a beautiful hotel project in that kind of location! Besides being on the river the area is so underdeveloped

It’s the most developed party of the city and connected to world class shopping and destinations and new ones to come

Where would the shopping be?

It has rough areas one block away from the river as the downtown gives way to Overtown. I see no shopping whatsoever.Credibility is an important component of measured thought, the Miami Dolphins have cheerleaders , not the buisness sector.

Brown wall with Swiss cheese holes still looks awful.

This part could use a fresh upgrade, especially considering its potential to become the focal point of Miami in the coming years.

I hope they add cobble stone or something that looks like the a revived old seaport to all the roads nearby, like in the photo.

This will be our Vatican! The Pope should relocate to Miami because Miami is the center of the universe, especially Brickell once we get five Trader Joe’s and Metromover extensions.

The pope is welcome here. I can invite him if anyone would like to see this happen.

This is an extremely gaudy development proposal that requires revamping. Please stop killing the River. #TackyTownUSA. 😢

Um have you seen the surrounding areas of the River currently?

Anonymous

Yes, I was just there and was captivated by its beauty and energy. I took tons of photos—it’s going to be the next Miami hot spot soon.

Anon

Yes. Parking lots and overpasses.

The strikingly tall, oblong shiny tower next door has become one of the most prominent skyscrapers in the Miami skyline. It is part of a master-planned center that integrates shopping, dining, and entertainment along the Miami River in Brickell.

that’s what sells in Miami right now. This is catering to an out-of-town crowd.

Anonymous

We are the new in-crowd, and if you’re nice you can sit with us 😂

Anonymous

We’re younger and better educated than the old-school crowd so we will give back to the city more. Invest in Us and we will invest in Miami.

That is the dumbest thing I have heard yet. Youre all just transients who will move with the next big opportunity. You have no community because you are an intersectional opportunist.
