Developers Plan 2025 Groundbreaking For Downtown Miami Supertall Tower

The developer of the three-tower Miami Riverbridge megaproject has revealed details on when they plan to obtain a construction permit and break ground.

The first phase of the project will include an 87-story (1,044 feet) supertall tower and another 62-story (734 feet) tower attached by skybridge.

Representatives of the developer told the Miami River Commission that they anticipate having a construction permit complete the review process in summer 2025, and plan to break ground two months later, according to Miami Today.

Completion of the first two towers, including the supertall, is planned in 2028.

The third tower will break ground later. It will rise 52 stories (636 feet), and will be completed in 2029.

The three towers will have 1,342 multifamily units, 264 apartment-hotel units, 615 hotel keys, 100,000 square feet commercial, and 1,180 parking spaces.

The Miami River Commission voted unanimously to approve the proposal at a March 4 meeting.

The proposal should have included a piece where the city gets rid of the highway ramp next door which makes that area a mess 2x a day.

Also, the vertical motel next door.

y-ywes!! Miami also needs to install light rail as another transportation method in busy urban areas!! ^_^

The first time I saw this idea was from Bernard Zycovich circa 2006.
Remove the ramps.
Make a Grand Boulevard from 95 to Biscayne.
Shift this building north to where the wide ramps used to be, and…..

Make a larger Riverfront park that highlighted the existing “Fort Dallas” remnants.

The idealism was impressive.

👏 👏 we need more east-west boulevards, turn 8th street into one leading to Calle ocho with pedestrian only thoroughfares and large river walk pedestrian spaces and make 9th two ways.

Actually all the East/west streets between 8th and 15th in brickell have a lot of potential because there’s no through traffic. They can easily be pedestrian only in reassembled lots.

2025! This is would be great news considering the last report said it might take years to get the permits. Transformational for Downtown Miami. Miami needs its CBD to be booming

I’m I missing something? There is a functioning 24-story hotel and a convention center on site. The demolition and cleanup alone will take approximately a year.

You’re not missing anything. 2025 is a pipe dream that won’t come close to reality. I’d say 2027 at the earliest.

If fully erect for more than four hours seek medical attention.

Downtown is finally becoming a true downtown! I love it.

Not sure how this is possible given that the current Hyatt Regency is still accepting reservations into April of 2025. The timeline doesn’t make any sense at all.

Will the convention center still be there? We need a huge one in Miami

Love the design aesthetic. I think it complements with the surroundings except for it will make Baccarat look like demure.

Absolutely towers over Baccarat! Wild!

Baccarat looks terrible, and it hasn’t even gone vertical.

At least they’re adding some kind of park and museum cultural space next to the bridge.

Demo of existing structures will take a year once Hyatt / Knight Center stop bookings. (And can they please demo the old Riverparc Hotel in the rear; makes no sense for that structure to remain).

Also, isn’t a 900’ tower planned where the former Howard Johnson (now Courtyard) is standing? If so, there is no way the 95 exit / entrance ramp and Brickell Avenue bridge can remain in their current forms. Traffic will be impossible.

Why can’t the city / county / state / feds work together with the developers to upgrade infrastructure with new developments?! All this new tax revenue would easily pay for the necessary upgrades (better streets, street lighting, and rapid transit).

Remember the penny tax?

Short answer.
Because Bureaucrats are not paid on commission, performance, or anything relating to Free Market incentives.

When the MetroMover sucks, the elevators smell like piss, and escalators don’t work, the Bureaucrats say, “We don’t have enough money….WE NEED more money. Voters are stupid….give us more money WE NEED it”.

When a hotel or condominium tower sucks because the escalators don’t work and the elevators smell like piss, the developer goes bankrupt.

But when it sucks we vote out those beaurocrats? They have their jobs on the line, they need to keep it great.

Let’s make sure they only get paid if it does well. Eliminate public salaries and make them have to earn their salaries along with our votes. Has this ever been done before?

Not sure why they would render the two phase 1 towers without the 3rd phase 2 tower with only a year separating the two completions unless phase 2 doesn’t happen, but why would it not with Trump as president.
