New Construction Hotel Proposed In South Beach With 238 Rooms

An application has been filed with Miami Beach planners for a new hotel on Washington Avenue.

Renderings show the hotel will be named The Cloud One. The chain has locations in New York, Hamburg and Nuremberg.

The new South Beach hotel will rise 7 stories and have 238 hotel keys, with a rooftoop pool deck and lounge with outdoor seating, along with a ground floor restaurant. No parking is proposed.

Arquitectonica is the architect. 1515 Washington Acquisition LLC is listed as the developer.

The Miami Beach Planning Board is scheduled to have a hearing on the proposal on April 25.

So they are going to leave the nasty facade because Im guessing its “historic”. Please demolish the entire thing…

I’m a big advocate for actual historic preservation, but nothing historic about this facade. This is about as historic as the parking garage village at MIA airport. Tear it down.

Miami Beach is not Miami, so many comments by people by people who seem not to have any knowledge of that!

Finally we get continuous overhead shelter from the rain and sun in Miami Beach and this guy is bitching about the balance of the architecture. Of course DON’T knock it down!

…and propose something that isn’t a long cluttered window box, too.

Everything wrong with South Beach projects, an elongated box, plus a jumbled mess of a facade. Planners and the commissioners need to think outside the box, both literally and figuratively. Break up massing.

This was marginally proposed to be a co-living project by Rishi Kapoor.

Yes. Although I would have rathered a residential or office building for this location.

Yes, more balance would be welcomed.
