Site Work, Phased Vertical Permits Applied For At Former Miami Arena Site

Construction of a massive apartment project at the former Miami Arena site continues to move closer with new permits filed in recent days.

On April 8, a site work permit was applied for with Miami’s Building Department. Coastal Construction is listed as the contractor, and the plan was accepted for review on April 25 (it isn’t yet approved).

On May 6, a phased vertical permit was applied for, with Coastal also the contractor. Review isn’t yet underway.

The master permit for the first 52-story, 624-foot tower with 893 apartments was first applied for in September 2023, with review beginning in December. It entered its second cycle of review in early April.

Eventually, the development will include 2,350 residential units and 1,924 parking spaces in three towers.

To say the least.

The Miami Worldcenter blocks will be as dense or more dense with residents as the Brickell region. That is great. The more decentralized centers with their own life, the better for the city, as people do not need to travel long distances.

Tell that to everybody who feels entitled to live downtown and won’t ever consider living at certain Metrorail stops up the line.

As developers increasingly recognize the high demand for proximity to a Metrorail stop, other stations will emerge as attractive and affordable alternatives to Brickell and the expanding downtown area.

A lot of “twin” buildings in Miami, should be called the New Twin City.

Sorry I’m not feeling this project, design is too bland especially in a prime location

Where have you been for every other MWC project that hasn’t been Paramount or Legacy?

I’m probably one in a few that likes and supports this project. It has some height and the units will help Miami grow even further in population. Now HUB Miami, while a nice project, is underwhelming!

At first, I thought I was looking at one of those empty tower images from China.
